Holiday Shopping Opportunities

America’s Largest Christmas Bazaar at the Portland Exposition Center will feature 400 booths of handcrafted items and 500 booths of commercial holiday products.

Parade Route: Between NE 40th and NE 48th on NE Sandy Blvd. The parade concludes at 48th and Sandy Blvd. at the flag pole in front of Ross Hollywood Chapel.

Plays, Musicals, and Concerts
The entire family will enjoy a new take on an old classic as the Hip Hop Nutcracker delivers a modern twist on Tchaikovsky’s famous score. The show, at Keller Auditorium, features hip-hop dancers, an electric violinist, and an on-stage DJ.

For a more traditional holiday vibe, Sellwood Playhouse Community Theater presents Scrooge: The Musical. For another timeless classic, your family will also enjoy the Portland Playhouse production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol complete with all your favorite characters – Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.

If you and the family want to get in the holiday spirit fast, head to the Keller Auditorium for Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree. The 300-voice choir performs holiday songs with dancers, a Nativity, and Santa.

Trains, Trains, Trains
If you have a train fan in your family or if you’ve just always wanted to experience a train ride for the holidays, here are some events your family is sure to enjoy! The Hood River Train to Christmas Town lets you enjoy a 70-minute ride alongside the Columbia River enjoying hot cocoa and cookies complete with a visit from Santa!

Turkey Trots and Runs
If you and your family have never joined in a Turkey Trot, this could be your year! First up is the Turkey Trot Run/Walk at the Portland International Raceway. This 5K run/walk with Kids’ Trot, plus after party promises fun for the whole family.

The Turkeython 5K is scheduled for multiple locations including Downtown, Tigard, and Hillsboro. The annual Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo promises a fun family event with a four-mile run and a 1/3-mile kid run. Finally, the Portland Tofurky Trot holds its annual 5K at Oaks Park.
